Dignity Action Day 2015


To mark Dignity Action Day 2015, the Indian Community Centre Derby, hosted an event for about 100 of the over 55s in the community. Honor Simpson from “Making Space” gave an awareness presentation on the difficult subject of Dementia. She highlighted the support services that are available, and the simple actions that can be taken to live life to the full. This included the launch of a film made by Russell Pollard on “Living well with Dementia” done with the help of the Centre. The Winter Friends project explained their service for helping vulnerable and disabled people. Derby City Council held a session to gain input for their Grant aid consultation process. Ravi Mattu, Project Manager of SEWA Project said “It is important that the elderly people in our community are aware of Dementia, and the options available to them to get support. Today was a great opportunity to bring people together and show them how to get help and support”
